Resilience grows from exploring rather than pushing difficult emotions away.

Layering experience, support and mindfulness into recognizing that Joy can sit beside them.

During challenging times, we can overlook the ordinary life moments that come in smaller packages.

The things that make our whole bodies smile and our hearts lift.

A colorful bird visiting your garden.      The peace inside a deep breath.      Pausing to listen.

A child laughing.                  Art,  music,  poetry that captures your soul.       A yummy meal that makes you stop                                     and go mmmm...

Joy can be a powerful form of resilience, even though it's often the first thing to go when we're stressed, overwhelmed, grieving, or facing a challenge.

What if we slowed down and really let these moments in?

Felt them in our bodies. Breathed them in through all of our senses.

Let them move us, expand us, and fill our soul bucket.

Trusting that these moments are our Soul right, instead of something we have to earn.

This is part of being human. Even in difficult times, moments of joy are still here, waiting for us to notice them.

In this weekend workshop we'll dance through the 5Rhythms Heartbeat map, exploring how Joy can support us even through Fear, Anger, and Sadness, and open the door to Compassion.

Nurturing resilience in our dance, our explorations and our collaborations

Without bypassing what's hard.

It's about strengthening our ability to turn toward what nourishes us when life gets challenging.

We welcome you to dance, move, connect, sweat, feel, and explore the resilience of Joy.

Deepening a practice of Self Nourishment, and inner depth.

For some time I've been wishing to share a heartbeat weekend here in Los Angeles, after years of offering deeper events in other countries and other cities and weekly classes in my home city.  Christina Graham Smith and I have collaborated in San Diego annually, and have a wonderful response to our work there.
I've been promoting and producing workshops for other teachers, and apologize to my local community for my pulling back from the depth of focus and the fulfillment within committed workshops.
Your presence will be an honor and a fulfillment.  We welcome you with out whole hearts.

My home Rhythms is Lyrical and in the heartbeat map that is the emotion of Joy.  So much of the work within the 5Rhythms maps centers in Flowing; receptivity, and ground, in Staccato; expression and passion; our heat and fire, in Chaos; our surrender and water and integration of our dynamic and receptive energies,  and often Lyrical is only a momentary blessing; that has often received less guidance and less presence in the waves maps.  Even in the Heartbeat map it can be less fulfilling in favor of the other Rhythms.  For my perspective, the lessening of our Joy as we mature is where much of the challenges in our world, in our work, our homes, our relationships are anchored.

We need to cultivate and integrate Joy into our lives, to help us meet what the waves of life are continually pouring in, and without that transformational lightness, that quite magical essence of being, we can lose our equilibrium, our relatability and our capacity to truly thrive in our lives.  I so hope you can grow more joyfully in our community and work; this promises to be a playshop as well as am illuminating dive into the places that most crave support.

Thank you for your willingness to join us in a world where wonder, awe, kindness and beauty are essentially woven into each of the rhythms.. enjoy and share with others.
we welcome all of you here.  Feel deeply, meet what rises, and find essential benefits in the potency of your practice. Bring your curiosity, your tenderness, your fascinations, and your
prickly places that could use some soothing.

Love to have you with us,  Jo Cobbett
