We love to eat organically grown, and creatively cooked foods. I am a non dairy vegetarian, and am always trying to find great dining spots. We are definitely in love with spices, and recommend a few places to dine.

After Sunday classes we almost always can be found at:
The Newsroom is our favorite food in L.A. it isn’t about decor, just plain delicious. (try the artichoke!)
120 N.Robertson Blvd. in L.A. 310 652 4444... head north on Robertson, and north of 3rd, and just after Alden it’s on the right. [also in the complex is a great bookstore ‘for children’ called Storyopolis, with wonderful art work from childrens books and all your favorite books a lot of them signed by author...]
The Newsroom has a smaller location in Santa Monica without the complete range of incredible flavors, but good for lunches, to go and breakfasts at:
530 Wilshire Blvd; on the S.W. corner, 310 319 9100

Closest place to eat in the area of the fencing center:

La Dijonaise... a French place with wonderful egg dishes, breakfasts and lunches and fresh croissants, coffee, the whole french thing without the smoke.

We used to always eat at S&W Country Diner at 9748 Washington Blvd in
downtown Culver City; they have real breakfast the old fashioned way.
There is an Ethiopian restaurant on Washington (head east a few blocks on Washington, it’s on the left just west of La Cienaga )

Michael loves Cafe Brazil, 10831 Venice Blvd. 310 837 8957... simple Brazilian food, (he loves the salmon plate, I get the vegetarian)

Next door is Bamboo; Caribbean cuisine, very good, a bit more expensive

If you want to save money; India Sweets and Spices has a fan club; a take out place with tables outside 9309 venice 837 5286

Or do you want to go to the beach?

We love the Fig Tree at 429 Ocean Front Walk in Venice..310 319 4937. (park on Rose, or near by, and walk down to the beach.) Crowded on the weekends, but a great place to sit and people watch ... great breakfast or lunch and some good baked things.

Try Mani’s bakery there are 2, one on 2507 Main Street in Santa Monica just a bit north of Ocean Park, fine for breakfast and lunch, or the baked goods are memorable
or one on Fairfax...... north of [gasp] (a great store for things from bali) and LACMA...which means just a bit above Wilshire and look on the west side.
Toi between 11th & 12th on wilshire in santa monica has been our favorite thai place ... they are open late (3am), and have wonderful flavors in their rock and roll decor.

Real Food Daily between 4th &5th on Santa Monica Blvd (514 Santa Monica Blvd )... 451 7544.. [just down from dance home... the dance place for decades in the area, tuesday nights and friday and saturday they have music, $5 cover] is where I go for real food; they haven’t ever wowed us with their spices, but the organic edge is met here, a must for the macrobiotic.
Practically next door to Real Food Daily (just west of the bookstore) is

Blueberry’s Cafe, with great breakfasts, I easily recommend, though there can be a line at breakfast time.

of course, there are lots more but this might get you started.

In the summer we sometimes organize picnics in the park. If you are interested in doing that more often, just ask! It is a great way to get to know more people; there is a Trader Joes on the way, and people just buy things to share. We even had a big yard sale once!
